March 31st Course Update

Yes, we have snow! The 2012 Five Peaks will have a very backcountry feel as much of the skinning and skiing is not on groomed runs and in closed areas of the resort. We're making some small changes to improve the skiing: the descent of Wacky's has been moved to Zoot's, the climb to the summit of Pk 8 has moved to "Ivan 2", a steep snow boot pack (next to 9 Lives on the trail map).The Race course now has three boot packs, the Recreation course has one to the Wheeler saddle.

The Peak 9 descent and Wheeler Saddle/Snow White descents each have one 10 foot section where racers will have to remove skis but the snow coverage is sufficient. Call it typical late spring/summer backcountry conditions.

The Recreation course is unchanged from the map.
